The Dave McCoy Achievement Award
Each year, the California Ski Industry Association recognizes
one of our outstanding members for his or her lasting and significant
contributions with the Dave McCoy Achievement Award. Named
after Dave McCoy, the founder of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, the
award represents the pioneering spirit, perseverance and inspiration,
which he has taught so many of us through his years of leadership.
The award is presented to a long-term, "hands-on" ski
area employee who has made a difference; someone who has made
significant improvements in his/her field of expertise, been
a mentor to others, or devised new safety tools or procedures
for skiers or other workers. Nominations are submitted by people
from all facets of ski area maintenance and operation. The Dave
McCoy Achievement Award is a very special honor and should serve
as a reminder to all of us who work behind the scenes that we
can and do make a difference.
Please note that the tradition of the Dave McCoy Lifetime Achievement
Award will continue despite the change in format of the CSIA
conference. The CSIA Board is currently considering options
for the nomination system and presentation of the award.
