How will the courses be taught & What will we learn?
Sierra College professors Steve Hunter and Mike Halbern have been contracted to
lead the technical training program. They have designed the RoMec courses in conjunction
with industry leaders to focus on hands-on projects and emphasize usable skills
that students can apply immediately to the worksite. The Sierra College team creates
a cooperative, fun, open learning environment that makes them a perfect fit with

What has been the reaction the courses?
The reaction of attendees, trainers, observers and resort management has been entirely
positive and enthusiastic. All agree that this technical training program is just

How many people can attend?
To maximize personal attention and safety, each class will be limited to 24 students.
When will the courses be taught?
Session 1 will be held June 2-6, 2008 and will offer one course
of RoMec I. Session 2, held June 9-13, 2008, will offer one course
of RoMec II and one course of RoMec III. Class work will begin promptly at 8:00
am on Monday-Friday and conclude by 6:00 pm. Students staying at Sugar Bowl should
plan on arriving Sunday.
Where will the courses be taught?
Sugar Bowl Ski Resort will be hosting the program for the third year in a row. Sugar
Bowl is a perfect laboratory because of its broad array of lifts, ranging from fixed

How much do the courses cost?
The charge for each course is $945 per attendee (lunch included). That’s roughly
$23 per hour of expert instruction. Attendees are on their own for dinners.
I don’t live in the Tahoe area - what are my lodging options?
For those attendees requiring lodging, Sugar Bowl has offered a special Bed and
Breakfast package of $118 per day plus tax based on double occupancy. To make reservations,
please call Sugar Bowl at 530.426.6742 and be sure to mention you are part of the
CSIA/Sierra College Technical Training program. For alternative lodging suggestions,
please contact CSIA.
How do I sign up?
To obtain an application, please contact CSIA or click
here to download a copy. Once CSIA
has received the completed form AND full payment of the course fee, the application
will be considered complete. Applicants will be accepted to the program on a first-come,
first-served basis with an early application option for CSIA member resorts. In
the event that a course fills up, a waitlist will be created.
